2014 Plane Pull for Special Olympics a Success

Denver, Colo. (August 9, 2014) – Today’s second annual Plane Pull for Special Olympics drew 50 teams and hundreds of volunteers, spectators, Special Olympics athletes, and vendors out to DIA’s Signature Flight Support hangar and adjacent tarmac. It was a tug-

11of-war between teams of all ages, up to 25 at a time, and a Boeing 757 of the FedEx fleet. Each team had to bring at least $1,250 to qualify (or $50 per person for individuals looking to join a team).

14The law enforcement were out in large numbers to support the cause. The Broomfield Police Department came in as the fastest team to pull the plane 12 feet and take home the coveted FedEx trophy as the fastest Law Enforcement Torch Run team for Special Olympics. Broomfield has the bragging rights for the highest fundraising team with over $5,400 heading into today’s event.
