Regis Jesuit High School – National Banner Presentation
October 31 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am
Regis Jesuit High School will become the first private school in the country to receive National Banner Status as a Special Olympics Unified Champion School at a special event on October 31, 2019.
Officials from the Special Olympics Colorado state office will present Regis Jesuit with a Unified Champion School banner at a pep rally to be held on the RJHS campus beginning at 10:00am. The rally will be followed by a basketball game featuring the RJHS Unified team taking on the boys spirit squad, the Rowdies.
“Regis Jesuit HS has been integral in helping SOCO develop its Unified Schools Program,” said Chaka Sutton, the Senior Vice President of Competitive Programs & Unified Schools at Special Olympics Colorado. “From the athletic director to their teachers and to all the students that support it, they continually strive to make sure the club is on campus and part of the school forever.” Special Olympics Unified Champion Schools builds on SOCO’s values, principles, practices, experiences and impacts to shape a generation that welcomes everyone. A socially inclusive school is a place where no student is excluded because of the degree or type of disability or the services required to meet his/her needs.
Roughly 25% of Colorado’s public schools are currently involved with SOCO’s UCS programs, and Regis Jesuit has the distinction of being the first and only private school in the country to receive the honor!
