Fit Forward Finish Line Youth Foundation Sneaker Giveaway

Finish Line’s signature program, Fit Forward, is an inclusive footwear fitting experience where athletes are paired one-on-one with expert employees who will size, fit and provide the best fitting sneakers to serve each athlete to the best of their ability.

This year we have an exciting addition to the SONA Move Challenge.  We are thrilled to announce that our amazing partner, Finish Line Youth Foundation, will be providing their signature program, Fit Forward, to ensure athletes receive a free pair of sneakers that fit perfectly!

Finding the perfect fit may include multiple sizes per athlete (if they have two different sized feet), multiple widths and lacing options. This attention to detail is important because Special Olympics Healthy Athletes data shows 51% of athletes are wearing the incorrect sneaker size.

Special Olympics Colorado will be requiring athletes to complete 150 minutes of movement for 7 of the 8 weeks of the SONA Move Challenge in order to receive these shoes.

What if an athlete is not competing at the Front Range Summer Games?

That’s okay! Athletes not competing at Front Range Summer Games can still come to the venue to be sized for sneakers. As the event nears, a reminder email will go out to all of the athletes participating in the SONA Move Challenge. It will include a detailed map of where the Finish Line station will be for sneakers to be picked up.

What to expect at the Front Range Summer Games Finish Line Tent:

First athletes will check in! Special Olympics Staff will confirm that the athlete did sign up and participate in the SONA Move Challenge. Next, they will head to a tent to be properly sized by a Finish Line staff member. The fitting will take about 15 minutes, taking into consideration the check-in and wait time. Athletes will then get to go home with a brand new pair of sneakers!

Please note: Finish Line and Special Olympics Colorado are working together to ensure a safe experience for all. Additions to the event may include, hand sanitizing before entering, mask mandate, social distancing and use of Plexiglas in cases where socially distancing is not possible.

What if an athlete can't make it to the Front Range Summer Games venue on that day?

Unfortunately, this is a one-time event and you must be present at the State Summer Games event in Denver event to receive sneakers. Finish Line takes pride in ensuring all athletes receiving their shoes are properly fitted in order to ensure maximum comfort and performance. If you are unable to receive the sneakers, you will still receive the awesome Move Challenge T-shirt!

What if they run out of a specific sneaker size?

Finish Line volunteers will take down an athlete’s information and a pair in their size will be shipped two-weeks after the event has concluded. Shoes will be shipped to the Special Olympics Colorado office in Centennial and distributed from there.
