State Competitions

Welcome to the competitions page!
Your one-stop-shop for information on all Special Olympics competitions around Colorado.

All competitions have been modified into training for each season and sport in effort to abide by state and county guidelines around COVID-19.
We appreciate your flexibility during this time of transition as we work to safely support our athletes!

2021 Winter Season Information

January 3 – March 19

Although in person competitions have been modified due to COVID-19, its spirit lives on through our athletes, Unified Partners, coaches and volunteers.

Please join us for a Hybrid Winter Season culminating with TWO Champions Highlight Shows – the Winter Sports Champion Highlight Show and the Champions Highlight Show – Basketball Edition! Our hybrid season allows our teams to practice as long as they complete and follow all of our COVID-19 protocols and guidelines; which can be found in the Winter Season Steps section below.

We will host “Intersquad Competitions” mid-season where you can request award ribbons from your regional manager to host your own competition at one of your practices. We hope this provides a safe way to compete against your friends and peers from across the state.

Continue training with your teams and join us for our Champions Highlight Shows to celebrate your accomplishments from this hybrid winter season!

“Special Olympics Colorado is thrilled to offer a Winter Sports season that offers something for everyone, while prioritizing the health and safety of our entire community. While this season may look different than past years, I encourage everyone to join us in whatever way or ways are best for you – be that in-person, at home or a combination. Have a great season!”

– President & CEO, Megan Scremin
