Healthy Relationships Offering

Special Olympics Colorado’s Inclusive Health Program is partnering with the Responsible Sex Education Institute (RSEI) to bring a 7-week Healthy Relationships series to athletes from January 16th to February 27th.

Classes will be on Thursdays from 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM. (time subject to change based on sign-up feedback)

All classes will be provided virtually on a platform (like Zoom).

The curriculum being taught is designed specifically for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) by educators trained in delivering the information to the IDD population.

Audience: Adult (athletes ages 18+)
– Parents and caregivers are welcome to attend with their athlete(s)

The lesson topics we will be covering are:
Week 1: The People In Our Lives
Week 2: Anatomy as the Body Ages
Week 3: Taking Care of Yourself, Taking Care of Your Health
Week 4: Right to Privacy
Week 5: Choices and Decision-Making
Week 6: Assertive Communication Skills
Week 7: Friends, Followers, and Flirts: Navigating the Internet and Social Media

Athletes are welcome to sign up for all 7 weeks or sign up for the topics that interest you most. It is encouraged to attend all sessions to get the most out of the offering.
