February 2026 Change Makers
Isaiah Semar
Athlete of the Month
Isaiah began competing in Special Olympics when he began college in the fall of 2024. He’s now a second‑year student in the Global Inclusive Program at Regis University.
Isaiah loves getting to play sports at Regis because he said it’s really fun, and Colorado has a lot more opportunities than he saw growing up in Texas. He likes that Special Olympics is integrated into his school life, and that he gets to learn, have fun, and try all kinds of sports as part of his college experience.
He currently plays basketball and flag football for Regis. This summer, he’ll be attending the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games with his flag football team. Isaiah says getting to go to the USA Games feels like a privilege, and he’s most excited for the challenge and getting to have fun with his friends.
Isaiah is proud to be part of the Global Inclusive Program at Regis University, where students with intellectual disabilities take college classes and join in on everything campus has to offer. To him, it feels like going to college just like any other student, with the bonus of built‑in team practices and games through the SO College program at Regis.
To Isaiah, Special Olympics is an opportunity for people with disabilities to show they can do most of the same things as anyone else and to prove that they’re not limited by labels.
We’re excited to recognize Isaiah as the February Athlete of the Month. Congratulations!
Chad Reuber
Coach of the Month
For more than 14 years, Chad Reuber has been a dedicated and passionate coach with Special Olympics, including the last 4 years serving athletes in Colorado. His journey began in Rockford, Illinois, when a good friend encouraged him to check out what Special Olympics was all about. He was instantly hooked and said he was inspired by the energy, joy, and community he found there.
Since then, coaching has become a defining part of Chad’s life. As the coach of the Spicy Monkeys, he’s watched the team grow from just 9 athletes and Unified partners to more than 100. “My big thing that I always tell everybody is to just come out and see what these athletes can show you,” said Chad. “It’s truly the most humbling thing in the world to be a coach in Special Olympics.”
This summer, Chad will be coaching the Team Colorado bowling athletes at the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games. He will travel to Minnesota with 4 athletes, and is excited to see them compete and show what they are capable of.
Overall, Chad encourages everyone not to treat people with disabilities differently and to let them bring the smiles to you. He loves all of the hugs and high fives he gets from his athletes and says he does it all for the pure joy. “Special Olympics to me is everything,” said Chad.
We are proud to recognize Chad as our February Coach of the Month!
