Athlete of the Month

Marissa has been a Special Olympics Colorado athlete for 14 years and has competed in a number of sports, including her favorite, basketball.

Marissa’s favorite part about Special Olympics Colorado is being able to make new friends and try new things. Last year, Marissa was part of the SOCO Street Team, where she attended events and competitions and captured social media content. She also interviewed athletes and helped share their stories.

Additionally, Marissa has been a Health Messenger for more than 2 years and makes sure her friends and teammates stay healthy and are getting enough exercise during the week. When asked what her favorite part of being a Health Messenger was, she enthusiastically responded with, “The community of friends, teammates, and coaches I have met and continue to meet.”
