Heather Halpape is Director of Communications and Public Affairs for the Mountain West Division of Albertsons/Safeway, leading internal and external communications across a division that includes 200 stores. In her role, she oversees media relations, government affairs, community engagement, and crisis communications in support of associates and customers throughout the region.

Heather is a graduate of the University of Colorado and began her career as a television news producer in Seattle and later worked in public relations in Colorado, including at the Colorado Department of Transportation overseeing traffic safety campaigns.

Heather’s connection to Special Olympics Colorado reflects both her professional work and personal commitment. Safeway has been a longtime partner and fundraiser for Special Olympics, and Heather has supported that partnership by volunteering at the Summer Games and participating in several Opening Ceremonies. She is passionate about strengthening community connections and advancing inclusion across Colorado.

In 2023, Heather was recognized as one of Progressive Grocer’s Top Women in Grocery. In her free time, she enjoys spending time outdoors, golfing, and playing pickleball.
