Kolton Johnston is entering his Junior year at Brighton High School. While at Brighton High School, Kolton has participated as a Youth Activation Committee representative working closely with his partner and brother, Gary Johnston. As a Youth Activation Committee representative, he helped organize and volunteer for the Youth Summit, the Special Olympics Trunk or Treat, and the Spread the Word campaign. Kolton also recently attended Camp Shriver. These events all serve to increase the awareness and inclusivity for the special needs community. At Brighton High School, Kolton participates in Unified Basketball, Unified Bowling, and Unified Bocce. In 2024, Kolton was recognized by the City of Brighton and Adams County as an Adams County Mayors and Commissioners Youth Award winner for overcoming adversity and bringing positive change in his community. Kolton is best known for shooting one-handed three-pointers on the Unified Basketball team and bringing the crowd to its feet in applause. This sums up his pursuit of bringing the evident joy that comes to all when kids with disabilities are able to pursue their dreams.
