Savanah Overturf
Special Olympics Colorado Athlete
My name is Savanah Overturf most call me Savy. I’m a woman trying to truly make a meaningful change in our society. My family has always supported me no matter what the doctors or others have said. The doctors said I would not talk. Now look at me giving speeches about Inclusion anywhere I can. I even gave a TEDX speech in Grand Junction. The teachers said I would never graduate from High School. Now, look at me a first generation Graduate from CSU with my B.A. The other students would bully me out of all sporting events, but with Special Olympics, I not only play, but thrive.
I want to learn to use my voice to create meaningful change and have found this passion throughout my journey with Special Olympics. I have found a home and more than that a family within SOCO. I am an activist, poet, and Special Olympics athlete, and happy to say I am a member of the Special Olympics Board of Directors!
