We will have a “shotgun” start. Fast runners line up towards the front of the line!
How do I plunge into an open body of water?
You MUST Wear Shoes to Plunge. NO EXCEPTIONS!!!
You will walk or run from the water entrance into the water with your team. NO DIVING!
Our friends from the Fire Dept Rescue team establish the perimeter and the depth for the Plunge (usually chest or shoulder deep). They determine if ground in the water is even and if there are no drop-offs in water level.
Plunge teams (usually 6-9 at a time) will set their belongings down near the water entrance. After you Plunge, gather your items, and head to the heated changing tents.
How do I fundraise to reach my minimum?
After you register for the plunge, you will receive an automated email from Classy that says “Claim Your Fundraising Page”. Click on the link to claim and begin using your personal fundraising link. Share your personalized link emails with a personal note to family and friends and on your social media pages.
You MUST fundraise or pay the minimum plunge fee: Adult/$80 SOCO Athletes/Students- $50. If paying, make your payment online at your fundraising page prior to 12:00 PM (Friday, April 14). After 12:00 PM, you can pay the day of the plunge.
If I'm planning on plunging after the 5K, can I still do the 5K?
Yes absolutely! Make sure to let your Team Captain know that you are running in the 5K so that you both can decide on a time and location to meet before plunging.
Where do I change after my plunge?
We will have heated changing tents.
Where do I go to pick up my 5K bib?
Once you check in, we will provide you with your bib.
What do I wear to plunge?
You MUST wear shoes to Plunge. Plungers often wear fun costumes, team t-shirts or bathing suits. NO DIVING SUITS, NO WET SUITS!
What happens if I don't reach my fundraising minimum to plunge?
You MUST fundraise, receive donations or pay the minimum plunge fee as stated above. EACH team member also MUST reach the minimum fee to plunge either through fundraising, donations, or personal payment.
What should I bring if I'm plunging?
Please bring a towel, change of clothes, dry shoes, and a bag for wet clothes.
