  • Compensation: The Senior Director of Marketing position is a salaried full-time position with an annual salary range of $68,639 - $91,938. A bonus maybe available dependent on organizational performance. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Position Summary:

The Senior Director of Unified Champion Schools (UCS) is responsible for providing the overall management, direction and oversight of the Unified Champion Schools team and the delivery of the mission of Special Olympics Colorado to the athletes, coaches, volunteers, and unified partners. Responsibilities include oversight of school programs from elementary through college, youth leadership, whole school engagement and Healthy LEAP/Fitness within the state of Colorado. This position serves as the key resource contact for UCS staff, school personnel, community agencies, local programs, youth leaders and volunteers who participate in school programming.

Reports to: Chief Outreach Officer and Sr. VP of Sports

Position Responsibilities:

School Recruitment, Retention & Training:

• Work in collaboration with the COO and Sr. VP of Sports to create a comprehensive outreach plan to build partnerships and attract more schools and school districts to the movement

• Work with UCS team to create a plan to retain and expand depth within current UCS schools

• Work with UCS staff to oversee SO College Programming

• Work in collaboration with Young Athletes team to recruit, maintain and support school growth and coordinate Young Athlete team placement, events, clinics and competition

• Identify, implement, coordinate, and facilitate trainings for school coaches, liaisons, young athlete coaches, educators and administrators and community leaders

• Attend conferences, workshops, and special events to network and collaborate among service providers, school districts, and community resource groups

• Maintain communication via email, phone, and in person with all involved parties including but not limited to: program staff, development staff, communications staff, site coordinators, school administrators, youth activation committee members, volunteers, service providers and family members

Management:

• Manage several positions within the department, including the UCS Regional Coordinators and UCS Assistant

Tracking, Reporting & Data Management:

• Create and monitor necessary program quantitative and qualitative data including program budget, UCS school sites, Unified Sports Partners, youth activation committee members, coaches, teachers, volunteers, etc.

• Responsible for ensuring all projected outcomes related to UCS grant funding, organizational goals or strategic plan are met

• Complete all reporting required by Special Olympics International and Special Olympics Colorado including monthly reporting, monthly financials, KPI numbers, grant reporting, story collections, midterm and final reports

• Maintain and track routine visits with UCS school coaches, liaisons and administrators, including schools within this position’s portfolio and those the position manages as well

Oversee data management of UCS program in conjunction with the Program, Development and Administration departments that includes but is not limited to athlete medicals, registration forms, site coordinator and collaborative agencies contact information, Class A and Class B volunteer applications, Youth Activation Committee applications, progress notes, event reporting forms, potential sponsors and donors; cash, in-kind and expense reports

Other:

• Research, identify, and develop revenue streams to support all UCS programming and ensure department revenue goals are met

• Along with the UCS team, coordinate and run UCS related events and competitions

• Oversee school-related Esports

• Oversee State Inclusive Youth Leadership offerings and ensure youth leaders meet regularly, remain engaged and fulfills all UCS related goals

• Manage all recognition events and processes, including assisting schools in applying for Nation Banner School recognition and plan National Banner events

• Support the mission and program services in accordance with the Special Olympics guidelines, policies, and procedures

Position Requirements:

Demonstrate commitment to the mission, vision and values of Special Olympics Colorado

• Prefer a minimum of 3 years’ experience in Special Olympics and UCS

• Prefer a minimum of 2 years’ experience managing staff

• Education and/or experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree in related field

• Ability to recruit, train and support adult and youth volunteers

• Excellent planning and organization skills

• Excellent oral and written communication skills

• Excellent interpersonal relationship skills

• Effective management of multiple and diverse projects simultaneously

• Strong self-motivation and the ability to work independently

• Support other departments contributing to team spirit and sharing of responsibilities

• Sense of humor

• Ability to work weekends and evenings as needed

• Ability to travel independently throughout the state

• Ability to lift and carry 30 lbs

• Ability to operate a computer for extended periods
