April 2020 Winners

Jerry Furman
Athlete of the Month

Jerry was introduced to Special Olympics Colorado by a special education teacher when he was 8 years old. Since then, Jerry has competed in almost every sport except gymnastics.

Jerry has been tremendously helpful and supportive of Special Olympics Colorado over the past few months. He would come into the office on his days off to help inventory volunteer t-shirts, write thank you notes, and make phone calls to supporters.

Jerry also came to Denver Regional Basketball at Gold Crown where he helped with the individual and team skills competitions. Additionally, he served as a court monitor where he helped facilitate the start of games and relayed any issues to staff that he observed during games.

Jerry was inducted into Special Olympics Colorado Hall of Fame in 1992.

Jerry has gone above and beyond over the past few months and has set a remarkable example for his peers!

Congratulations, Jerry, on being April’s Athlete of the Month!

Friday Health Plans
Community Partner of the Month

Friday Health Plans joined the Special Olympics Colorado family in 2019 as the presenting sponsor of Bocce and Brews, hosted by the Young Professionals Board. They recently became the presenting sponsor of the Better Together Virtual Walk on April 25th.

They are headquartered in Colorado and are committed to Special Olympics Colorado’s movement for health and inclusion for all.

We are tremendously thankful for their support of Special Olympics Colorado athletes during this time as we create opportunities for them to experience connection, respect and inclusion off the field.
