Special Olympics Colorado is happy to present our Athlete Leadership University to the western slope! We are incredibly excited to partner with The Arc of Southwest Colorado for our first in-person athlete leadership opportunity in Durango. You can look forward to a day of learning, leadership and fun! We recommend that you bring a family member, friend or caregiver who can serve as your mentor for the day. There will be lunch and healthy snacks provided throughout the day and all attendees will receive an athlete leader t-shirt as well as other Special Olympics Colorado items.

This event is best suited for athletes who:

• Can focus in a classroom setting for 1.5 hours at a time
• Enjoy learning about and increasing their confidence in leadership skills and opportunities
• Are comfortable in a setting with more than 40 people in the room, many of them potentially new faces
• Can communicate with others well (any form of communication, verbal, written, using assistive technology, etc.)
• Goal- oriented in order to finish program and receive certificate
• Like to have fun and meet new people while learning!
