If you are 70½ or older, you can use your IRA to receive tax relief on giving to charities such as Special Olympics Colorado. You can do so with a qualified charitable distribution (QCD) from your IRA. The funds are directly transferred from your IRA to Special Olympics Colorado and support our programs for children and adults with intellectual disabilities right away! A QCD generates neither taxable income nor a tax deduction, so you benefit even if you do not itemize your deductions.
If you manage a Charitable Giving Account or Donor Advised Fund, you can help make your community more inclusive by recommending a gift to Special Olympics Colorado. The beauty is your fund sponsor will handle all of the logistics and paperwork. Your financial advisor/fund manager is a great resource to help recommend a grant to Special Olympics Colorado.
