Two Unique Special Olympics CO Summer Events

Special Olympics Colorado to Host
Two Unique Summer Events

2nd Virtual Walk and Drive-In Movie events will raise critical funds for non-profit

Denver, CO – July 15, 2020 – Special Olympics Colorado (SOCO), Colorado’s premiere sports organization for individuals with intellectual disabilities, is hosting two exciting summer events to support a more inclusive Colorado.

The first of the two events, the Better Together Virtual Walk Part II presented by UBS Financial Services Inc is slated for Saturday, July 25th at 9:45 AM. This virtual movement encourages participants to move continuously for an hour while listening to a 60-minute audio track featuring upbeat tunes and inspiring messages from athletes. While the event is free, Special Olympics Colorado asks for a suggested donation of $25/person which includes access to Opening Ceremonies via Facebook Live, the full 60-minute audio track and the opportunity to learn about some little-known SOCO programs that make a significant impact on our community. Participants can join this event from anywhere.

Night at the Movies presented by Denver Mart Drive-In is slated for Thursday, August 13th at 7:30 PM and features the award-winning film The Peanut Butter Falcon.  This unique event promises families an entertaining night-out while watching Special Olympics Florida Athlete Zack Gottsagen, Shia LeBeouf and Dakota Johnson as they embark on a modern Mark Twain-style adventure. Tickets start at $75/car and include a movie goodie bag, a dance party (in your car) and the film.

“This summer looks much different than any other in our history. Our team has been hard at work finding creative solutions to engage our athletes, raise funds and continue to foster inclusion throughout Colorado. Both of these events are shaping up to be fantastic! We invite you to join us.”

– Megan Scremin, President & CEO of Special Olympics Colorado
